about

Joby Fox is a native of Belfast, a veteran songwriter, musician, and humanitarian who started out in post-punk (The Bankrobbers) and Celtic rock (Energy Orchard) before his solo career kicked off in 2011. Joby is a diverse artist living between Ireland and Denmark with his roots firmly in Irish soil, interpreting his heritage in new ways through international collaborations crossing genres, most recently with a young jazz and folk trio from Denmark.

Joby’s upcoming album 'I Once Was a Hawk Now I’m a Dove' was recorded and mixed in Medley Studios, Copenhagen with one of Denmark’s top producers Søren Mikkelsen. It is already getting fantastic reviews in the UK and Ireland:

“He has always been an emotional artist, but this is exceptional work … with a brooding power that’s akin to Christy Moore and Van Morrison.” (STUART BAILLIE, ex-NME).

Joby says of the song..."Falling started off with a basic chord progression, and to be honest, I didn’t think it was going to make the cut till I began to sing the word “falling”. I started to get an emotional connection to it. I wrote the song in early 2020, and at a time when I was trying to process my involvement in the refugee crisis and the terrible treatment of people who have already suffered untold pain and upheaval in their lives. I underestimated the profound effect it had on my life being in that environment. The song is about the healing effect of being in a loving and supportive relationship".

lyrics

Falling into your arms
That’s all I have to do

All the dreams were broken
But your love stayed true
There I was, standing alone
With no one else but you

Falling into your arms
That’s all I had to do

The breeze it blows on the sea now
I can’t go back to that pain

A thousand voices in the water
Calling out their names

Falling into your arms
Is all I had to do
